In 2018, I had the privilege of representing The LEGO Foundation at the Global Child Forum, held at the Royal Palace in Stockhold. Surrounded by global business and civil society leaders in a shared commitment to advance children’s rights. At the event, I proudly signed the Children’s Rights and Business Pledge on behalf of the LEGO Foundation—reaffirming our belief that children’s wellbeing must be central to how we innovate, govern, and grow.
The Forum’s report, “Investing in Every Child,” emphasized a powerful message: children are not just beneficiaries of corporate responsibility—they are key stakeholders in our future. This resonated deeply with our work at The LEGO Foundation, where we focused on promoting playful learning, wellbeing, and equitable access to education and opportunity.
As technology becomes ever more embedded in children’s lives, the responsibility of companies and institutions to protect, empower, and include young people has never been greater. The pledge we signed was not just symbolic—it reflected our ongoing commitment to child-centred innovation, ethical tech design, and collaborative action for impact.
The work continues, but moments like this remind us: when we put children first, we all benefit.
